Family Names

The students learned that aWimpel is the cloth that binds the Torah.  They were shown some Wimpels from our Torahs.  Parents and children had the opportunity to create their own Wimpels.   The wimpels they designed can be used at their Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony and other life cycle events.

The students learned that most Jewish people have two names, an English and a Hebrew name.  We are given our names at special ceremonies called a Brit Milah or a Brit haBat. The students investigated the meaning and importance of their names by completing the All About Me Worksheet.
