Helping other Beth Tikvah Members in a time of need.

The Beth Tikvah clergy perform a variety of pastoral duties, such as, visiting hospitalized Temple members, leading the shiva minyan, and answering a wide array of questions. The Caring Committee is soliciting the help of the entire Beth Tikvah community to complement the services provided by the clergy. The Temple family cares for one another, and each member has responsibility for every other.

Communication is vital. If you have any needs or you hear of a congregant who is ill, either homebound or in a care facility, or a congregant who may have other needs, please call the Temple office to let us know. Please do not assume that we know of anyone's need.

The Caring Committee tries to provide assistance in the following four areas:

Help at a Shiva House The death of a loved one is a very sad and trying time for the family. The Caring Committee tries to ease the burden by being available to house-sit while the family is at the funeral and to put out the trays of food for the family. Also, Committee members may be available to lead a shiva minyan if the clergy are unavailable.

Bikur Cholim (caring for the ill) The Caring Committee members visit hospitalized and homebound congregants, send food to the homes of ill congregants, do occasional shopping and provide occasional childcare for homebound or hospitalized congregants.

Driving Needs Some members find it difficult or impossible to drive at night in order to attend services. The Caring Committee tries to find someone who will occasionally drive the member to services.

Life Cycle Coach Experience is a great teacher so Temple members who have been through a variety of life cycle events are available to answer questions for those new to the event. These events encompass baby namings or brises, people beginning religious school, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, weddings and choosing a college.
